A deeply supported, ACT-informed psilocybin retreat for professionals training in psychedelic therapy. New Mexico’s rules stress that good practice is not administration alone, but preparation, the mushroom experience, and thorough integration. That is exactly how this retreat is built.
What makes it different
Most psychedelic retreats offer a powerful experience and little structured follow-through. This one is built the other way round: a multi-ceremony retreat in a legal setting, followed by four extended 90-minute one-to-one integration sessions that ground and amplify what began in ceremony, so new perspectives translate into lasting behavior change.
The sessions run to 90 minutes for a reason: the extra length brings trauma-focused, imaginal-exposure integration within reach, so deeply held patterns can be met and reprocessed, not merely discussed. This is the re-experiencing method behind our published results.
Relevant to your New Mexico training
- Preparation, administration and integration applied throughout the retreat: learn how the integration of one ceremony may become preparation for the next
- First-hand, professionally supported group psilocybin experiences
- Trauma-focused, somatic integration that applies to New Mexico’s needs and emphasis
- Relevant to your continuing education in psychedelic therapy (ask us about eligibility)
- Led by highly qualified specialists in psychedelic therapy, research and trauma work
The evidence
The approach rests on two peer-reviewed papers.
- Trajectories of psychedelic-assisted changeJournal of Psychedelic Studies, Whitfield et al., 2026This retreat programme's effects were measured critically to find statistically significant gains sustained at long-term follow-up, across all measures.
- A Spectrum of SelvesFrontiers in Psychiatry, Whitfield, 2021The model of self and parts work that guides the integration.
Both papers are available through open access.

Personal and Professional Deep Dive Psilocybin Retreat
3–7 March 2027, Calella, near Barcelona
I participated in a five-day psilocybin retreat in the Netherlands in 2019 that truly expanded my view of human life, of the inner world of mushroom intelligence, and of the cosmos. The ripples of that time continue.
Now I am delighted to invite friends and colleagues-- especially those who will be working in New Mexico's Medical Psilocybin system-- to join me for a psilocybin retreat in Spain next March. I will be teaching and facilitating with members of that same team from the Netherlands: long-time fellow trauma specialist Henry Whitfield and Dr. Rob Krause, who is now Director of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), along with Dr. Margo Fisher, a facilitator on the Imperial College psilocybin trials.
With a maximum of 14 selected participants, there will be time for individual attention and close interaction throughout the retreat.
Ceremony and personal growth are central to the preparation, retreat, and integration. You will also learn how compatible methods such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can support psychedelic-assisted therapy and help people translate their experiences into changes in daily life. This approach is especially relevant to those working within a clinical or medical model. The spiritual dimension of mushroom ceremony is also a powerful part of the retreat, which brings us together in community in a beautiful natural environment.
Traveling to Barcelona for this five-day retreat is a commitment of time, money, and dedication. With accommodations and meals included, and opportunities for both personal exploration and professional learning, I believe it offers excellent value.
How does this retreat relate to providing legal mushroom services under the NM Medical Psilocybin Act? As of October, 2026, New Mexico’s training requirements aren’t final and training programs have not yet been approved. A requirement for facilitators to have personal experience with mushrooms is being considered, but would require action by the state legislature to allow it to take place in New Mexico. Whether any part of this retreat will count toward New Mexico’s training requirements remains uncertain. I will be exploring options. What I can say now is that the content of this program has a solid clinical basis, will provide legal personal psilocybin experiences, and will cover core competencies including a unique trauma-informed model of integration.
I’d be happy to share more about my experience with this team and talk with you about whether this retreat would be a good fit for you.
